The short history of this craftsmanship is a profound art form that reflects cultural heritage. The process using wax and dye create patterns on textiles is popularly known as an indigenous method called Batik. It is assumed to be a traditional method that is practiced mainly in Africa and Asia. It is assumed that the technique is passed on to descendants of families involved in the production and it can be distinguished by the pattern and colours. Thus, Batik can be viewed as cultural heritage of the ancestors.
